This Weekend in Pittsburgh: October 9–11
Published Thursday, October 8, 2026. A stacked weekend: the Steelers come home Sunday, ranked Pitt hosts UNC on Saturday at noon, the Pens play Saturday night, Sturgill Simpson and Dan + Shay split Friday's arenas, and Prostburgh Oktoberfest wraps its final weekend downtown. Every date below was verified against venue and team listings — lineups can change, so confirm before you head out.
Top picks
Steelers vs. Colts — 1:00 PM
The Steelers come home after Thursday's loss at Cleveland for a Week 5 AFC test (CBS). The North Shore will be packed — get there early for the lots and the Riverwalk scene.
Pitt vs. North Carolina — Noon
The No. 25, 5–0 Panthers celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 national championship team (ESPN). Rare back-to-back football days at Acrisure — tailgate twice.
Penguins vs. Stars — 7:00 PM
First home Saturday-night game of the season, capping a Friday-in-Columbus / Saturday-home back-to-back. Early-season hockey energy at its best.
Sturgill Simpson — 8:00 PM
The Grammy-winning outlaw-country star brings his arena show to Oakland (doors 6:30). Pick your Friday: Sturgill at the Pete or Dan + Shay at PPG.
Prostburgh Oktoberfest — Final Weekend
Last call on the 11-day Oktoberfest: 60-foot Ferris wheel on the Clemente Bridge, dachshund races, stein-holding, polka, and German food and beer. Ends Sunday.
